The educational camp “Bottom-Up,” organised by Ecoaction, brought together over 50 environmental activists from various regions of the country in the Carpathians. The event provided a unique platform for exchanging experiences, gaining new knowledge, and building a support network within the community.
“This is the first camp for activists that Ecoaction has organiszed since the start of the full-scale invasion. We aimed to provide participants with up-to-date knowledge about the concept of green recovery and to teach them how to effectively influence local reconstruction processes”, said Dariia Zhdanova, Ecoaction’s volunteer community manager and camp coordinator.
The camp’s programme was intensive: lectures on green recovery, cases of successful environmental projects in the communities, workshops on writing appeals to authorities, and community building. Representatives of various NGOs, such as Ecoclub, Plato, and the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group, shared their experiences and provided valuable advice to the participants.
Overall, Ecoaction received 259 applications to participate in the camp, from which we`ve selected 35 participants, guided by the team of 15 trainers and organisers. Among them were local activists, heads of initiative groups, national park employees, energy managers, representatives of NGOs, heads of homeowners associations, students, and Ecoaction’s volunteers.
