Cold bird and its eggs are ideal “living barometer”: an indicator by which it is possible to assess the level of pollution of the studied areas with persistent organic pollutants, in particular dioxins (PCDD / F) and PCBs. On this basis, we chose a method for the selection of free-range poultry eggs and their analysis of the content of some POPs as one of the monitoring tools within the framework of the project “To Fight Ukraine: The Clean Air Coalition”.
This report presents the results of studies on free-range eggs from Kharkiv, Mariupol and Kryvyi Rih, cities in the eastern part of Ukraine, whose territory is likely to be contaminated with persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
Data on the selection and analysis of free-range poultry eggs presented in this report were obtained during an expedition in May 2018 within the framework of the above-mentioned joint project of non-governmental organizations of Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
