On November 7, a training session was held in Novovolynsk on how communities can utilise renewable energy for schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and municipal enterprises. The event brought together nearly sixty participants from the Novovolynsk, Lytovezh, and Poromiv communities, including local council staff, educators, technical specialists, and public utility representatives.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale war, implementing renewable energy projects has become not only an opportunity but a necessity. For these solutions to work effectively, it is crucial that representatives of public buildings are well-informed,” noted Anastasiia Bushovska, Energy Policy Specialist at Ecoaction.
Training’s participants analysed real-life case studies and learned how to select solar or other power-generating systems for specific buildings, as well as the requirements for their maintenance. They also discussed how communities can benefit from RES implementation: through cost savings, maintaining resilience during power outages, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

The atmosphere was vibrant and productive, with participants actively asking questions, sharing their experiences, and discussing how to apply the acquired knowledge within their communities.
Ecoaction is already with Volyn communities on developing . For these ideas to be implemented more rapidly, it is essential that representatives of local institutions have the knowledge, understanding, and motivation to move forward in this direction.

The event was implemented as part of the project “RePower the Regions: Ambitious and inclusive clean energy plans to reboot regions in need of just transition” with the financial support of the European Union.
